Simple Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts

I love doughnuts. Especially when they’re warm and fresh, but if you’re like me, you probably never made a doughnut in your life. Well, with this simple recipe you can!

All you need for this recipe is:
1 can of biscuits
1/4 cup of sugar
1/8 cup of cinnamon
Oil for frying
A bottle cap, or something to punch out holes in the biscuits

First off, set your oil to medium/high heat. You’re going to want  to use enough oil to cover the biscuits, giving them enough room to float. While your oil is heating up, go ahead and mix your sugar and cinnamon together and set it aside.

Next, open up your can and get to work making  holes into each  biscuit. Save these middle parts because they will make great doughnut holes!

Once your oil is heated you can get ready to fry them. I drop mine in with the back side of a metal spoon (carefully!).  Fry them until they are golden brown and then let them drain briefly. Don’t let them get cold or the sugar won’t stick. Once they are drained dust them with the cinnamon sugar mix.

And that’s it! While these aren’t “official” doughnuts they sure do taste like them!
And the doughnut holes aren’t bad either!

I have a whole board on Pinterest just filled with doughnut recipes to try but until I purchase a doughnut pan these will do just fine.
