About four or five years ago I made my mom a wreath out of paper pinwheels, carried it on the airplane, and presented it to her.
I don’t know what made me think of it recently, but I wanted to make an updated version of it to hang on the cork board in our kitchen.
Here’s another cheap wreath made with dollar store supplies and materials that I already had in my possession.
Foam wreath form
Fake plastic butterflies
Hot glue gun
The first thing I did was make my pinwheels. For this I used 5″ by 5″ squares of my decorative paper. I then when on Pinterest and found a simple tutorial to make paper pinwheels.
I then took my burlap ribbon and tightly wrapped my wreath form, securing with pins as i went. The only part I glued was the very end of the ribbon. The ribbon from the dollar store was just long enough to cover the wreath form.
I pulled the fake flowers from the stems and began to lay out my pinwheels, flowers and butterflies to get an idea of where to place them on my wreath.
Once I had an idea, I started hot gluing everything down. I didn’t take a picture of it, but I used the floral wire and made a small loop. I then pierced it into the foam to create something to hang the wreath on my board.
There you have it! A cheap craft that is very simple to do. The most time-consuming part would have to be making the pinwheels.
I love these mini wreaths. I’ve made a couple of them and they are just perfect for adding small seasonal touches to our home.
